So exited to share this transformation with you all. This is the transformation of a tween bedroom into a neutral, more grown up bedroom. Don's daughter, Rachael, now all grown up....had left home to move to NC. After a couple of years down there, she was relocating back home for a new job. She came with a German Shepherd pup in tow (ZARA) and so I got this brilliant idea to transform the room. The current room was 4 walls of NEON colors basically. Not at all suitable for a young adult! And we know how EXCITED I get about redecorating (so much so that I can't sleep at night!!)

Here are some BEFORE pics. A cool room for a young tween for sure....but so ready for an upgrade! (Please pardon the poor photography lighting...working on that for future posts)

The first step in the process was easy: Neutralize those walls!! I choose a warm tan. The pallet was going to be earth tones: tans, off white and touches of wood accents. Kept the molding as is. Moved the furniture around for a more appealing layout. Brought in an armoire that resided in one of those overly cluttered lake house bedrooms at Grandma's (Don refinished it in a nice ebony black color!) Some natural accessories to accentuate the wood tones: an old shutter next to the bed for interest. Brought in a chippy bench and staged it with some french garden accessories under the mirror. The bedding was a cream coverlet, accented with some Parisian themed burlap pillows and a couple other funky prints (which I sewed! Always looking to DESIGN ON A DIME! Another of my all time favorite HGTV shows!) Final touch was a cute, chic throw rug to pull it all together. Check out the AFTER photos.

Bye, Bye Tween!! Hello...SERENE!!
