So now on to the second bedroom. I shared the reveal for the first lake bedroom here. Once we completed that room, we were so excited to move on to the second bedroom and give it a whole new facelift as well. There was a bit of a time crunch this time, as Don's sister and twin girls were due to arrive in a few months. Can't have one room all set up for one twin and not do the same for the other!! So off we went to pick out paint colors and new carpet.

Here are some BEFORE pics. Some of the same challenges existed in that room. Way too much stuff in too little a space! And those wall paper panels....UGH!

Once the paint colors and carpet were chosen (we needed something to match her current comforter and some of her accessories), we did the same steps. The odd wallpaper panels were removed and replaced with drywall. The ceiling was painted with a fresh coat of white paint and the window trim. We removed a lot of the excess furniture to open up the space. The dark, dingy dresser was refinished with chalkpaint in an off white color. The walls were painted with an airy, soft blue the color of the ocean. The carpet...a sandy beige. Makes you feel like you can almost feel the sand between your toes!

More beachy themed accessories throughout and some light gauzy curtains (again to let the outdoors in...those awful lace curtains covering the whole window just had to go!). His mother's old LANE chest was repurposed to become a window bench. I made the seat cushion from an old sheet I had and a burlap grain sack, and the pillows from some denim jeans and other misc fabric. Now a perfect reading nook! I think you'll agree....from dark and cluttered to LIGHT and AIRY!

Welcome to the lake: where some of the best memories are made! (And the twins loved their "summer visit" bedrooms!!)
